January 27, 2020 EVA EDUCATION DAY Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, WFYI and Ted Green Films are commemorating January 27, 2020 — the 75th anniversary of liberation of Auschwitz — as Eva Education Day across the state.
JOIN A STATEWIDE COMMEMORATION Indiana Govenror Eric Holcomb has proclaimed Monday, January 27, 2020, as Eva Education Day. With the generous support of Elliot Lewis and other donors, an Eva Educational Toolkit has been donated to every middle and high school in Indiana, nearly 1,000 in all. Our hope is that every school will screen the documentary “Eva: A-7063” and read the speech Eva intended to give that day.
Get your school involved! Encourage your school to screen the documentary “Eva: A-7063” on January 27. Every middle and high school principal in Indiana has been mailed an Eva Educational Toolkit, which includes the one-hour version of the film, an Educator’s Guide and Eva’s book “Surviving the Angel of Death.” The toolkit also includes a video and script of the speech Eva wrote and intended to deliver that day. The script of the speech can be found here.
Get your library involved! WFYI Public Media has also donated a DVD of “Eva: A-7063” to every library in the Indiana Library Federation, more than 400 in all. Please encourage your library to host a free screening on January 27, 2020!   We hope that this DVD will also serve as a valuable resource to the community for generations to come.
Eva’s Final Speech    Eva intended to deliver a speech at the ceremonies marking the 75th anniversary of the Auschwitz liberation -- a speech she called the most important of her life. To the left, see world-renowned Holocaust historian Michael Berenbaum read Eva's speech last summer at her Celebration of Life in Indianapolis.
